My cousin Conrad turned 9 last week! We couldn’t go to his party, but hung out with him and his family a bit earlier in the day. Conrad wants to be a chemist, so we performed an experiment with a bouncy ball.

I had ComedySportz in the evening and had lots of great audience members: my co-worker, Maryeileen, and her husband Chris; and Dean, Nancy, Lynn, Debbie and David! It was fun to see so many familiar faces in the crowd.

early birthday celebration(s)

This year for my birthday David planned three days of surprises. They turned out to be filled with trips and visits with friends and family. We also ate a lot of good food. It was a wonderful birthday present! Here was the itinerary:

-Monica (didn’t take the camera along – doh!)
-Becca & Ben
-Michelle
-PA Nyce family
-both of our immediate families

I’m grateful for such a thoughtful husband as well as great friends and family. What will happen when my birthday is actually a milestone? Click here for pictures.

goings on

Last weekend, David’s cousin Alex got married to Michelle in New Cumberland, PA. It was fun to dress up and celebrate with them. They live in Lancaster, so we should have lots of chances to get to know Michelle.

Also, David’s grandma Kathleen Benner visited and we spent some time with her. It was lovely to take an extra day off from work and we got to see David’s aunt Linda too!

visiting Anika in the nation’s capitol

We spent a great weekend in Washington DC vising Anika. On Saturday we walked around the White House, monuments & museums. On Sunday we went to Dupont Circle for Anika’s favorite farmer’s market. It was lovely weather both days and so fun to see her house and neighborhood. Click here for some pictures.

wordle

I stumbled across a website called wordle.net in which you can enter some text or a whole website and it makes a composite of the content. The frequency of words are represented by size. Here is davidandolivia.com:

wordle

I’m not sure if these words are taken from the front page of this website or from all of the archived content as well. But as I look at it, I feel grateful that these are the happy things that generally make up our days. When so many people around the world suffer every day, it would be easy to get paralyzed by guilt. I hope instead that we will take action: that we will fight for justice and serve as a force of good in the world so that peace and joy may spread far and wide.

backlog of pictures

Hello fans!

We finally have our camera & I have a ton of pictures to share. Some of them are from David’s 28th birthday which we celebrated in Lancaster. But most of them are from this weekend – it was a fun whirlwind! Anika visited and helped us get ready for our Survivor party on Saturday night. It was a lot of work to put together but very rewarding. On Sunday we spent lots of quality time with relatives.

update (no new pictures yet)

I moved all of our stuff into the new kitchen this weekend. The house is now mostly clean and organized! It’s such a good feeling!!

Our camera is still in Lancaster, but we’ll get it back next weekend. Then I will have tons of pictures to add (David’s birthday, more kitchen, weekend activities, etc).
