meet ashes

We have a new cat! Our friend Sallie needed a home for her cat, Ashes, so she brought Chloe’s new sister to our house on Friday night. Ashes is a gray calico who is very affectionate, but doesn’t like to be picked up. She and Chloe have been separated and so far have hissed at each other under the door. All of the cat literature we can find says to introduce two cats very slowly, so we’ll probably continue to keep them separate for awhile. But hopefully they’ll eventually reach a point where they can happily hang out! Some pics of the cats (plus a print I got at a garage sale this weekend…)

Sally told me she needed to find a home for her cat. I never imagined she would be a sibling to Chloe! Ashes is very pretty. Now I have to come visit!

Grammie wonders when your open house is going to be held. She wants to see your lovely new home.

Wow… that really took me back to when we introduce Monk and Florence… we had also read that cats should be separated at first. We had little Monk in the basement and we felt so bad for him that Andrew and I took turns sleeping down there with him for the first two nights. Then we felt stupid and just put them together, and it was rather rough at first. They eventually tolerated each other, and Florence even let him cuddle with her when she was too tired to change positions… very cute. Now I miss them all over again!

Ashes looks very pretty from the pictures. She also looks very lovable, rolling on your bed. Isn’t the guestroom Ashes’ territory? Maybe you took that picture before you got her.

Amanda, where are Monk and Florence right now?

Are they buddies yet? They should keep each other from getting bored while you are both out.

Sadly for us, Monk and Florence have found a new home with Karl and Michelle from our church in Goshen. Thanks for asking Anika. And no, we haven’t gotten over them yet. I will never again get a pet unless I’m sure we’ll be in the country forever.
